Abu Dhabi Airport Bus A2 Timetable (2026 Easy Guide)
The A2 airport bus connects Zayed International Airport with Khalifa Street near Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche, calling at Abu Dhabi Bus Station on Sultan Bin Zayed Street. It is a practical airport connection for the central bus-station corridor and the northern city centre. It does not terminate at an unspecified Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street stop.
The official A2 timetable checked on 13 October 2026 has separate weekday and weekend tables. Most trips are roughly half-hourly, with exceptions, and the first airport-arrivals call is not 04:00. Use the table for your actual stop rather than an old all-day hourly summary.
A2 first and last departures
The following windows refer to the named boarding stops. Times use the 24-hour clock. The current downloaded weekday and weekend tables agree on these endpoints.
| Direction / boarding stop | First listed departure | Last listed departure | Important exception |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport → city: Terminal A Arrival, stop 17220 | 06:12 | 22:50 | First ECC call is 06:07, five minutes earlier |
| City → airport: Khalifa Bin Zayed Street / Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche, stop 3131 | 05:00 | 22:57 | Next listed city departure after 05:00 is 06:27 |
Do not assume a uniform 30-minute gap for every early or late trip. The PDF includes uneven intervals and a long gap after the first city departure. A row at Abu Dhabi Bus Station is later than the Khalifa Street departure; select that row if you are boarding at the station.
Sample journeys from the official schedule
| Journey | Scheduled stop times | Scheduled duration |
|---|---|---|
| First airport-arrivals trip to Sofitel / Khalifa Street | 06:12 → 07:02 | 50 minutes |
| First city trip to Terminal A Departure | 05:00 → 05:53 | 53 minutes |
| Last city trip to Terminal A Departure | 22:57 → 23:53 | 56 minutes |
These are scheduled examples, not promises about traffic. Airport-bound buses call at Terminal A Departure before the later ECC terminus. Reading the last ECC row instead can add unnecessary time to your flight plan.
A2 route and city stops
From the airport, A2 serves the Etihad Airways HQ and Etihad Plaza corridor in Khalifa City, then reaches Sultan Bin Zayed Street. It passes the Al Jazeeera Sports Club and mosque stops before Abu Dhabi Bus Station, continues through the central shopping corridor and ends near the Corniche on Khalifa Street.
| Section | Official stop examples | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Airport | Zayed International Airport Terminal A Arrival / Departure; ECC | Use the passenger-terminal stop for a flight |
| Khalifa City | Al Mireef Street / Etihad Airways HQ; Etihad Plaza | Airport-side housing and workplaces |
| Al Nahyan | Sultan Bin Zayed Street / Al Jazeera Sports Club; Amin Saeed Al Awadhi Mosque | Match the exact side of the road |
| Central bus-station corridor | Abu Dhabi Bus Station; Maryam Bint Saeed Mosque | Onward buses require a separate connection |
| Al Danah / city terminus | Gold Centre, Capital Park, Le Royal Meridien; Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche | Check the walking route to your hotel |
The airport-bound trip has additional Khalifa Street calls at Emirates Post and Mohammed Bin Masood Mosque. Opposite directions are not identical stop lists. The PDF does not establish direct A2 calls at Abu Dhabi Mall, Khalifa Park or the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Plan a connection for a destination not shown in the route table.
A2 fare: what AED 4 means
The airport’s bus information describes a typical one-way fare of around AED 4 and requires Hafilat. That is a budgeting indication, not an unlimited-distance flat-fare guarantee for every boarding point. Abu Dhabi Mobility’s standard-service fare is AED 2 boarding plus 5 fils per kilometre, capped at AED 5 per standard journey. Confirm the fare applicable to your selected service.
Buy or recharge Hafilat at the machines near the airport bus stops before boarding. Cash is not accepted on the public city buses. Tap in and tap out so the system can identify your journey and any eligible transfer.
Connecting at Abu Dhabi Bus Station
A2 is useful when your onward service leaves the central bus station, but allow time to find the correct bay and purchase any separate intercity ticket. An A2 arrival does not guarantee that a departing intercity coach will wait.
Eligible standard-service transfers within 60 minutes of the previous tap-out can avoid another AED 2 boarding charge, with no travel back in the opposite direction and no more than two transfers across three buses. Intercity services are excluded. Do not interpret the boarding-fee waiver as a free onward intercity journey.
Early flights, night arrivals and accessibility
The airport’s general overview refers to 24/7 A-series coverage, but the current A2 stop-specific PDF does not show continuous overnight service. For a journey outside the windows above, plan the complete trip in Darbi and check the airport’s other routes, including N2 where suitable. Use a confirmed alternative if the available buses cannot meet your airline’s check-in deadline.
For wheelchair access, unusually large luggage or assistance, ask Abu Dhabi Mobility about the actual stop and vehicle. Do not depend on Wi-Fi or USB charging to keep your boarding pass available: save it and the timetable before travelling.
